Bloggers Unite for Climate Change
The annual Blog Action Day was organized for the third time yesterday. It’s goal is to bring together bloggers and create wide, online discussion about social issues, this year on climate change. An amazing 13,167 Blog Action Day blogs were posted from 155 countries, and were read by more than 17 million people. The campaign also enjoyed strong political support, including from the White House and from the UK government. Organisations such as Oxfam and WWF, and social media blogs such as Mashable and DailyBlogTips also participated. This is a great example of how social media channels can be used to impact global dialogue on the web and bring social issues to the fore. Let’s hope this carries though to COP15.
